Visibly Insights: Online Vision Test Part 1

In our new Visibly Insights blog series, we’ll be sharing online vision test tips, the best ways to take care of your eyes, and other important facts about eye health. Today, we’re sharing the easy process on how to get started with our online vision test. We want to make sure you know what to expect the next time you renew your vision prescription with Visibly.

Creating An Account

Did you know the only thing Visibly needs from you to create an account is your name and birthday? This information helps us register you in our system and ensures you fit our age requirements of 18-55.

While our online vision test costs $35 for a doctor review to receive a contacts or glasses prescription or $50 if you want both, it is free to create an account and try our vision test. We won’t ask you for any form of payment until you’ve completed the test and are ready to receive your vision prescription.

What You Need for the Test

Before starting the test, there are a few items you should have available to make the process as smooth and quick as possible. The first is a computer and a smartphone. The computer will be used as your digital eye chart and the smartphone will be used as a remote control to tell us what you’re seeing on your computer screen.

You will also need to take a portion of the test away from your computer screen. So be sure to have 10 feet of space in the location you are taking the test, most likely your home. A card like you driver’s license, bus card, student id, or something of a similar size will be needed as well. It is used to help us calibrate and measure your computer screen size for the test.

The last thing you will need is your prior vision prescription. This can be found on the box of your contact lenses or if you’re a glasses wearer from your doctor. Not sure where your prescription is? Don’t worry, our Patient Support team can help you find it by calling your eye doctor for you.

That’s it! The test will instruct you on when you need these items and how to use them.

Check back soon for part 2 of our online vision test tips where we will be discussing things to remember when taking the Visibly test and what you should know about your vision prescription from Visibly.
